The cover picture shows the widowed Queen Emma in mourning, gazing at a portrait of her husband, King Kamehameha IV, who died on 30 November 1863, St. Andrew's Day. This photo was sent by Dowager Queen to Lydia Sellon, Mother Superior of the Devonport Society and Foundress of the first religious order in the Church of England since the Reformation.
